The #NipseyHussle situation has me thinking…should a person go back to and rebuild among those that don’t want to see you move forward OR find new land, take people that want to leave with you and face the obstacles ahead…Biblically, this was answered with Moses and the children of Israel…he left his “Hood” and spent time away until God told him to “go back” even though he was a murderer and would be at odds with the people he grew up with. Yet, God still chose him to be a deliverer to his people…the only difference is God didn’t tell him to rebuild within Egypt, he told him to get the people out of Egypt because the environment was not going to change and familiar enemies were still there….people were still enslaved and even those that were forced out wanted to go back to the “hood” because it was all they knew (a toxic cycle).

Maybe following can serve as some wisdom in the midst of the tragedy that transpired only hours ago:

Young man or young lady, if God has blessed you to be a deliverer, consider new land and bring those that want to do better with you. There will still be obstacles ahead for sure and also new enemies but that’s not the issue…its the old ones that grew up with you and stayed around you that you have to look out for. Why? Because certain people will never celebrate what you are doing out of envy, hatred and jealousy! Seriously, can you imagine what it would be like if Moses stayed after the ten plagues or improving the condition of his people in the same environment? The number of attempts on his life would increase exponentially not because of the distant powers that BE but the powers in the hood that are NOT trying to change.

I never forgot where I came from…and for that reason I needed to leave, build and bring others that WANTED to be with me and go into what God has promised.
